Following Toronto GM Masai Ujiri's 'F--- Brooklyn' remark, Pierce and Williams were dismissive of the Raptors' trash-talking. Paul Pierce plays the ‘Who is this guy?’ card in responding to Raptors GM Masai Ujiri’s ‘F--- Brooklyn’ remark at a pep rally before Toronto’s first-round series against the Nets. If Raptors GM Masai Ujiri tried to stir the pot and ignite a war of words, he instead elicited a different type of insult from the Nets: indifference and rejection. This has become the go-to move from the Nets, a reaction that either they're above the trash talk, or, more likely and insultingly, the Raptors are beneath them. Deron Williams, who was aggressive offensively Saturday while scoring 24 points, cut off a reporter Sunday who was leading to the inevitable question. "Is there a Nets-Raptors rivalry? No. The Raptors, who are pushing a new edgy marketing campaign entitled "We the North," certainly weren't running away from their GM's profanity — even it might cost him some fine money from the NBA — posting the video on the team's Instagram account. So we have to take away some of their strengths that they were getting opportunities and knowing that we can play better.
